The Batribike TEN crank drive crossbar and step through electric bikes mark a new departure for Batribike. After 10 years of marketing rear hub drive bikes, they have launched their first crank drive bike. It is available in both crossbar and step-through frame versions
With a conventional 52cm (20.5″) crossbar frame and suspension seat post this is a bike for the taller rider. In contrast, the step through has a 15cm (17.5″) frame.
Unlike most other crank drive bikes on the market, the TEN utilizes a rotation sensor within the motor rather than a torque sensor. Therefore, if the rider selects maximum power, the motor will deliver maximum power without the rider applying much pressure on the pedals.
On the left hand grip, there is a twist throttle which will give 4mph without pedaling. In addition, turning the throttle will allow you to override the pedal assist and the motor will deliver full power up to 15.5mph whilst the pedals are turning.
The rider display is a central mounted clear LCD display showing battery state, 5 pedal assist modes, odometer and trip distance. The display also operates the lights by using the controls on the left side.
Secreted in the frame, the battery is fitted from the underside and can be left in the bike or removed to charge it.
Both versions of the Batribike TEN are well specified with Shimano hydraulic disc brakes -front and rear, Shimano Deore 9 speed derailleur gears, and Shimano Altus gear shifters, while Suntour NEX suspension forks improve the quality of the ride over rougher roads.
Powered by the main battery, the lights have a steady beam or flashing option.
The differences between the two frame types are:
minimum saddle height – 97cm crossbar and 91cm step-through
minimum crossbar height – 78cm crossbar and 48cm step through.
Frame 5 Years: Motor 3 Years: Cycle Parts and Electrics 2 Years: Battery 2 Years.
