Made in China?

April 16, 2015 News

Chinese technology being used in bikes marches on.

Now, the Chinese are using Graphene the new “wonder product” in bike components. As with many new products the innovation will first be used in racing and competitive bikes. But, we all know that what is specialist today may well become “everyday” in future. So perhaps before long, we shall be able to report that Graphene is being used in electric bikes.

Vittoria, a Thai-Italian company, who have the rights to the new “wonder material” have been developing the product for two years and is now launching its first product on the cycling market.

A Graphene re-inforced carbon wheel rim is the first product to benefit . The added Graphine increases the lateral stiffness of the wheel, by 50% and up to 30% improvement in strength in the spoke holes. The new rims are generally 20% stronger than standard carbon rims.

Vittoria expects to launch its first tyres with graphene additive, providing lower rolling resistance, better grip and possibly the best tubeless tyres yet in a few months time.

We found everyone at Axcess Electric Bikes extremely helpful. We chose a Raleigh Captus Crossbar and was able to test ride it before buying it and they even delivered it the same day! The electric bike is so easy to use and as we live at the top of a hill we don't have to worry about getting home after a long ride! We can't recommend them highly enough.
Excellent! what a difference its made to my life. No more having to phone for a taxi to take me into Honiton. I now just get on my bike and I'm in the centre of town in 10 minutes. My only quetion is....why didn't I get one earlier!
It is great for hilly places which is where I live. What I like is the fact that I can pedal if I want, then if a hill is steep I can turn the motor up. It's great when I cycle with younger fitter friends it means I can keep up.
