The Axcess ROK Touring has been developed as a result of customer requests. Many want a bike slightly larger than the standard 26″ wheel bike with sporty performance. By changing a number of components on the ROK MTB we have created a bike much more suitable for road use. The 27.5″ X 1.6″ Schwalbe puncture resistant Land Cruiser tyres reduce the rolling resistance and make for a faster smoother road ride. These are covered with full length mudguards to prevent the telltale wet strip up the riders back. We have also changed the handlebar stem to a higher adjustable stem and installed raised sports handlebars. Because of this the rider can sit up in a more comfortable position so reducing the weight on the wrists. All other components remain the same, so maintaining the overall sporty performance of the bike.
The motor in the rear wheel is activated by a cadence sensor. This is the type of sensor which not only responds to the power setting selected on the handlebar display, but also to the speed that the pedals are turning. The result of this is that you need to use the gears more than in some electric bikes as the pedals need to be turning at a reasonable speed to get good power. On hills with maximum power selected the bike glides up at a pleasing speed. The semi-integrated battery is 36V X 13Ah (468Wh). and constructed with good quality Samsung cells. This should deliver about 40 miles of 50/50 pedal assist riding. The battery also has a USB port which can be used for phone charging or GPS attachment. The rider has a left hand mounted LCD display which displays odometer, trip, ride time, average and max speed along with current speed, power selection and battery state.
The bike has Suntour XCT forks with 100mm travel can also be locked out for hard riding or adjusted for a softer ride. The brakes are Tektro Hydraulic with 160mm discs front and rear. The Shimano T3000 gears are 3 X 9 selected with Acera Rapidfire plus gear selectors left and right. Mudguards and other accessories can be fitted at the time of purchase or at a later date.
